Here’s a give a quick explanation of what our new eMTB and MTB Coil Calculator at BikeCo.com provides users!
The new Coil Spring Calculator allows riders to compare FOX coil springs with varying Pre-Load settings. This allows users to see the spring rate cross-over to better determine an ideal coil spring setup for their DHX2.
In short: Pre-Load is the coil spring equivalent to volume spacers. Reviewing this calculator on BikeCo.com will highlight spring cross over between a lower LBS/IN spring with MORE Pre-Load compared to a higher LBS/IN spring with LESS Pre-Load.
While these springs have equal measurements at say 30% (or the sag measurement) the differences later in the coil’s stroke are notable allowing riders to use springs with more or less support deep in the travel or bottom out support.
