Ibis Exie Geometry
The Exie is offered in Small, Medium, Large and X-Large. Riders from 5’0″ to 6’5″ options on the Exie.
Like other bikes Ibis shows their height crossover to be about an inch per size. For instance the Medium lists 5′ 3″ to 5′ 8″ riders while the Large typically fits 5′ 7″ to 6’1″ riders.
This is a good starting point, but isn’t the be all and end all to sizing your Exie.
Ibis bikes like the Exie are sized based rider height as well as leg and arm length. Riders who find their height in the cross-over of sizes will determine the better size based typically on inseam, flexibility and riding style.
Those with longer legs tend to upsize to improve riding position. This will increase the wheelbase and produce a bike with a bit more overall speed capacity that isn’t quite as snappy as a smaller option would be.
Riders with longer torsos or looking for a more “poppy” trail feel will tend to downsize. Although, with modern MTB frames designed to accommodate increased dropper post lengths riders who prefer the added wheelbase may upsize – so long as the reach doesn’t compromise stem size availability or put a rider “too far” over the front wheel.
If this is your first real XC type machine remember that Reach and Stack should be viewed together. The taller stack on an XC bike results in a “shorter” reach measurement but often has a comparable cockpit fit to a longer reach and lower stack Enduro style geometry.
Wondering which bike provides you the best fit? Our expert team is here to help you define how your size, riding style, terrain and aspirations will effect your ideal sizing.

Ibis Exie USA Upgrades and Swaps
Below are the most common upgrade areas for each Exie USA build.

While Ibis specs a great bike “out of the box” there are some common areas we see riders take advantage of part swaps or upgrades particularly at time of purchase.
The quick details:
Deore Kit: For the money, it doesn’t leave a lot to be desired. Overall, it’s a great spec for a great price.
SLX Kit: SLX falls into the same category as the Deore, Another great spec’d bike for a great price.
***On XT build kits and above, you should build this bike how you want it. ***
On these bikes we should be talking about Cockpit preferences, Brake preferences, Wheel & Tire preferences, And Suspension.
How We Do It: BikeCo gives you credit for the part coming off and gives you the difference for the parts going on. This way is more cost effective than upgrading your bike after the fact and it has you enjoy your finished product from day one!
Looking for a little more on common Upgrades and Swaps? Keep reading.
Below are the most common upgrade areas for each Exie USA build.
XT: Cockpit
Dialing in the perfect handlebar and stem combo goes a long way for performance. We offer a range of the best carbon bars from Renthal, Tag and OneUp in a range of rise offerings.
GX Transmission & X0 Transmission: Cockpit & Brakes
Like we just mentioned with the XT upgrades, the right cockpit is critical to how you fit on the bike and how it performs. And again, most riders replace SRAM brakes. Depending on how you like your brakes to feel you’ll prefer the performance of Hope, Magura, Shimano or TRP.
Getting your bike right is important to everyone on our team. There are a variety of parts that really modify a bike’s performance and we’re happy to help you get your dream bike delivered with that dream spec.
If you’re shopping the Exie USA you know you want exactly what you want. And at BikeCo.com we love that. Let’s get that bike absolutely dialed. Maybe you want the perfect XC race machine. Perhaps you’re looking for the perfect set of color highlights to the Exie USA frame. Maybe you want as many USA made products as you can on the Exie. BikeCo.com has you covered.
Common Exie USA Upgrades
The most popular upgrades to the Ibis Exie USA are cockpit, brakes and suspension tuning. These tabs detail areas we see riders update on a bike purchase. Some of these are personal preference, others are budget or performance choices. Questions? Chat, email or call BikeCo’s expert sales staff and we will help you buy the perfect Ibis Exie USA.
Chat with BikeCo’s team about how to get your new bike dialed for your riding specifics today.
Tires
Like contact points its not unusual for riders to have a “must-have” go to tire spec. This is one of the most common swaps on builds from any manufacturer. With notable performance differences between tread pattern, compound and sidewall lets make sure we get you on the perfect tire setup.
The Ripmo is spec’d with EXO+ tires front and rear. Many riders will swap these for more aggressive treads like an Assegai in the front. Others prefer the added protection and damping of Double Down sidewalls. In any case BikeCo is here to help you dial in that perfect build.
Looking for rim protection? We have that covered too. CushCore XC and PRO are popular in pairs, alone or mixed and matched depending on your preference.

Cockpit
Bars and stems are a very common swap or upgrade to the Ibis Factory Spec. Often a 35mm diameter combination is preferred to the stock 31.8mm options.
Handlebar rise and overall stiffness also improve the personalization and performance of your bike. Looking for suggestions? We have the best in the market from OneUp, Tag, Renthal and Raceface.
Chat with our team about hand positioning and the advantages of getting the right handlebar rise on your new rig. Our goal is to balance rise, width and layup for your size, weight and riding requirements.
Rider Contact Points
Do you have a preferred grip and pedal go-to?
We can provide a range of grips with variable patterns, technology and shape to improve your riding. There might even be a grip in a color to set off your Swamp Monster or Huckleberry Ripmo as well.
Similarly many riders purchasing a new bike find it a good time to refresh their pedals. We have the best clipless and flat options for a wide range of riding styles.

Brakes
This is one of the most common swaps or upgrades on any bike. Brakes that compliment your riding style and preference make a huge difference on trail. We offer class leading options in a variety of price points from Hope, Magura, Shimano and TRP.
Shimano brakes are very popular and are spec’d on several of the build options. Shimano brakes have good overall power with quick lever throw. This produces a brake with a strong feel.
TRP brakes are similar to the Shimano lineup. The TRP brakes provide a touch more overall power and extra modulation compared to Shimano offerings.
Riders who prefer a bit more modulation or “feel” to their brakes gravitate towards Hope and Magura.
The latest Hope Tech 4 updates have improved their power. This puts the Hope Tech 4 in the Shimano and Magura range for overall power while retaining the excellent modulation Hope has been known for.
Magura brakes are the most frequent swap or upgrade across all Ibis builds. Riders who appreciate modulation and power will find Magura excellent in both aspects. Magura offers models with across a wide price range allowing budget friendly swaps or upgrades. Riders looking for the most adjustability or tuning for their brakes will shop the MT7 with HC3 levers.

Custom Wheels
Handbuilt or custom wheels are another popular upgrade no matter what brand you’re shopping. Custom wheels allow riders to spec a rim, spoke and hub combination as well as build specifics for the ultimate performance.
Custom wheels for Ibis builds usually feature slightly narrower rim options. This will decrease the volume slightly as well as shifting the tire’s shape to provide more grip in high lean cornering. We see many riders work with NOX carbon or WTB, Factor and DT Swis alloy options.
Riders also will find traction from using the right spokes and build techniques. Our team will help you define this at time of purchase to ensure you maximize performance and longevity.
Popular hubs from Chris King, Industry Nine, Onyx and Factor are spec’d on Ibis Ripmo builds. All of these hubs are available in a range of colors to highlight your build.

Key Ibis Exie USA Kit Differences
The Exie USA is available in Shimano XT kit as well as two wireless shifting SRAM Transmission build kits.
Shimano XT Kit
Shimano bikes are known for their crisp shifting. XT bikes feature 12sp drivetains with 10-51t cassettes.
XT components are slightly lighter than their SLX counterparts. The XT bits also feature slightly more exotic materials for both weight saving and service life.
The Exie USA XT build is the Ibis factory cable driven option (although we can do custom or semi-custom SRAM cable or XTR builds if you’re interested).
SRAM GX Transmission and X0 Transmission
The new SRAM Transmission drivetrains are the strongest and longest lasting options on the market.
Coming in slightly lighter the X0 Transmission kit is the top tier stock option available for the Exie USA.
The GX and X0 kits are rather close and we’ll see clients on each side of the fence. Some choose the X0 build taking advantage of the slight weight savings, while others prefer the cost savings on the GX Transmission (especially as many riders will be upgrading to custom wheels – more on that on the next tab!).
Ibis offers the Exie USA in its top tier build kits. So what’s the major differences? Let’s take a look at the spec of the XT, GX AXS Transmission and X0 AXS Transmission bikes. We’ll also identify common areas of part swaps and upgrades to the Exie USA builds.

Let’s dive into the Exie USA XT, GX Transmission and X0 Transmission builds from Ibis: What’s the same on all the builds?
This year Ibis has reworked their kits to produce a lower entry point to the USA made Exie. In doing so much more of spec is shared between the XT, GX AXS Transmission and X0 AXS Transmission Exie Builds.
Ibis USA Carbon Fiber & FOX Factory Suspension
All three of the Exie USAÂ builds feature the USA made carbon fiber Exie frame as well as FOX Factory suspension.
The Exie USA features the FOX Float DPS with Remote as a rear shock. Shock dimensions are 190x45mm. With a quick click riders can lock out the rear shock for ultimate power transfer.
Along with the remote shock Exie USA riders find a FOX StepCast Factory Series 34 SC SL fork at 120mm travel. StepCast forks minimize weight with their aggressive lower design.
Exie USA Suspension Upgrades
The most common suspension upgrade is riders taking advantage of our BikeCo Pro Tune service. This produces a fork and shock with the performance windows narrowed to a rider’s specifics. This makes every click of adjustment more impactful for the end user.
Chat with our sales team about the advantages of a personalized suspension tune on the Exie for both race and pleasure riding. You’ll be stoked you did!
Wheels & Tires
All three builds offer the Ibis 933 Aluminum rims with Ibis hubs as well as the option to upgrade to carbon i9 option for $1,400.
Tires spec’d are Rekon Race 2.4 EXO front and rear across the board. Very few bikes leave BikeCo with the stock tire configuration. Chat with our team about options for the best grip, damping and speed on you new Exie build.
Brakes
Shimano M8100 2-piston brakes are found on all three bike builds. This is a popular option, however, brakes are one of the most rider specific spec’s on a bike. so you might look at other options as well.
Cockpit & Seating
All three Exie USA builds share the same spec on cockpit and seating. This is another area that MANY riders will update or swap for personal preference. Definitly check out our common Exie upgrades tab or chat with our team about the finite details you may appreciate here!
