GX AXS Transmission Wheel and Tire Details

Ibis spec’s the Blackbird Send with Ibis hubs for the HD6 GX Transmission build. These are great wheels for riders looking at higher volume options. Many riders investigate the Ibis carbon wheel upgrade featuring i9 Hydra hubs with this spec.

Another popular upgrade to these wheels are narrower rim options, whether aluminum or carbon, mounted to a variety of hub options.

Some riders will upgrade the wheels to more robust hub systems such as Chris King, Industry Nine or Onyx. If you’re shopping hubs it’s a good time to consider whether you’ll prefer aluminum rims like the WTB, RideFast or Factor or whether the improved power transfer and tracking of carbon like NOX or Ibis Carbon suit your riding.

Maxxis EXO Plus front tire and Double Down Rear are appropriate for this 180/165mm travel Enduro HD6.

Have a favorite tire combo? Let’s get you dialed in. Tires are a very personal feel and if you prefer an EXO Plus rear, or a Double Down front, or a DHF, Dissector, Aggressor, whatever – let’s get you setup right, right out of the box.

Brakes are one of the most often swapped or upgraded points of any kit and the Ibis HD6 GX Complete is no different.

Popular Brake Swaps & Upgrades to the Ibis HD6 GX

We offer the best brakes from Shimano, TRP, Hope and Magura.

Getting brakes that compliment your riding style is important for your bike’s performance.

Riders looking for great power with snappy performance gravitate to Shimano SLX, XT and XTR brakes.

TRP offers even a little more power with slightly improved modulation compared to Shimano.

With the Tech 4 Hope has increased their total power in-line with Shimano and Magura without compromising their amazing modulation.

Magura continues to be the most popular aftermarket brake, especially installed on new builds. We will credit you for any part swaps and with the variety of Magura price points most riders find the MT5 and MT7 brakes provide unbeatable value. Magura brakes offer great total power and top tier modulation without feeling soft. Magura offers a variety of brake levers to help riders fine tune their performance.

Ibis HD6 Geometry

Learn more about the Ibis HD6 GX Build geometry on the tabs below.

Ibis HD6 Geo

For HD6 geometry details or to compare the HD6 with other class leading Enduro bikes use these tabs.

The Ibis HD6 GX Build is available in sizes Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and XX-Large. With five available sizes the HD6 can be setup ideally for almost any rider.

For a planted, confident feel even in the biggest terrain the Ibis HD6 GX Build features a 64 degree headtube angle.

With the relaxed headtube angle riders find the wheelbase and trail measurements also add to the bike’s great trail feel.

The HD6 fit is going to be based around riders height, inseam, shoulder width and arm width.

Inseam will be a big factor for riders between Medium and Large as Ibis publishes a notable standover difference between these sizes.

On the X-Large and XX-Large the standover is published as equal meaning riders are going to be looking at their overall height as well the length of their arms and width of their shoulders.

The HD6 has geo and sizing that are to be expected in top tier Enduro bikes designed around relatively short stems and accommodating a range of bar height and rise depending on rider specifics.

Questions on sizing? Get in touch with our team and we are happy to go over your details to ensure we get you on the right size bike for your riding!

Shimano’s SLX drivetrain provides the crisp shifting and excellent service life you expect from Shimano.

The SLX kit is slightly heavier than the XT option and comes in at a bit more cost-conscious price point.

Some riders may upgrade the cranks for a slightly lighter build, however, the SLX cranks are definitely a quality bit right out of the box.

Another upgrade we see for some riders is changing the derailleur to the SRAM GX AXS Wireless option. This isn’t for everyone – but for the right rider it’s a great spec.

SLX Wheel and Tire Details

The HD6 SLX stock wheels are Ibis hubs laced to the Blackbird Send aluminum rims. This high volume setup allows riders lower PSI with improved traction. Ibis’ Blackbird Send aluminum rims are a great balance for Enduro riding. The rims are robust and confident without being heavy.

Riders can upgrade to Carbon wheelset from Ibis or custom wheels from BikeCo.com

The S35 Carbon rims with Industry Nine Hydra hubs are available from the factory for $1,400.

What can BikeCo build? Well, pretty much anything you want!

That perfect color of King, Onyx or Industry Nine hubs to accent the build? No issues.

For rims, the 35mm internal Blackbird Send is a great high volume rim. But, maybe you want a narrower rim profile?

Popular builds like NOX Farlow or Ibis S28 rims provide a lower volume setup with a more rounded tire profile. Prefer aluminum rims? We work with class leaders like WTB, RideFast and Factor. Whatever you might be interested in our team will help you define the right wheel at the best value for your riding.

Ibis’ HD6 SLX build features the Maxxis Assegai EXO Plus front tire and DHR II Double Down sidewall rear. These tires provide excellent grip and sidewall protection for a 180/165mm Enduro bike like the HD6.

Tires are personal though! Maybe you’d like something else? Have a go-to tire combo? Let’s get you dialed in. Want an EXO Plus rear, or a Double Down front, or a DHF, Dissector, Aggressor, whatever – let’s get you setup right, right out of the box.

SLX Cockpit & Brakes Details

The HD6 SLX cockpit is a nice spec, but it is an area we see a lot of upgrades to on the SLX build.

Many riders find that 35mm diameter carbon bars provide improved trail feel. Options from Tag, Renthal, RaceFace or OneUp in a variety of rises are popular updates to the SLX build.

Carbon fiber handlebars help damp trail vibration compared to aluminum bars. This is especially important on aggressive bikes like the HD6 where riders are going to be pushing their limits in burly terrain.

Popular Brake Swaps & Upgrades to the Ibis HD6 SLX Build

SLX brakes are confident and predictable. The 4 piston Shimano SLX brakes have great power with a consistent lever feel.

Riders comparing other brakes are looking for a slightly different power application feel than Shimano brakes offer.

For example, TRP brakes have a bit more power as well as slightly more modulation.

Hope Tech 4 brakes are available in a range of colors to accent your build. The latest iteration of the Tech 4 brings the overall braking power parallel with what riders have expected from Shimano and Magura over the years. Hope’s Tech 4 E4 and V4 brakes both maintain the excellent modulation and feel.

Magura MT5 brakes are a popular swap to the Shimano SLX option. Magura provides excellent power and unbeatable modulation. Moving up in the Magura series riders can fine tune the modulation with the MT7 HC3 setup. The HC3 brake lever features an adjustable slide that changes the brake’s leverage ratio to bring on the power sooner or deeper in the throw.

Not sure what brakes are best for your riding? Let out team help you define the best points of each model and how it applies to your personal riding style, goals and aspirations.

Ibis HD6 Geometry

Compare geo of class leading Enduro bikes from Ibis, Monraker, Nukeproof and Yeti. Review the HD6 Geometry between sizes as well as other models.

Find the geo differences in the Ibis HD6 SLX Builds’ five sizes. The HD6 can be fit to a huge array of riders with sizes available in: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and XX-Large.

With a 64 degree headtube the HD6 SLX build is a blast in big terrain at speed. The 180mm travel fork paired with a 29″ wheel are forgiving through the chunk. The 27.5″ wheel is fast around the corners. What’s not to love?

Similar to other class leading Enduro bikes the HD6 fit is based around riders height, inseam, shoulder width and arm length.

On the Medium and Large Ibis publishes a notable standover difference Riders between Medium and Large will find Inseam an important measurement to factor fit.

With the X-Large and XX-Large Ibis publishes an equal standover. Height as well the length of arms and width of shoulders will be important to correct fitment here..

The HD6 has geo and sizing that are to be expected in a top tier Enduro bike. Designed around relatively short stems the HD6 accommodates a range of bar height and rise depending on rider specifics.

XT Wheel and Tire Details

The stock wheels are Ibis hubs laced to the Blackbird Send aluminum rim. This is a popular high volume setup allowing for lower PSI and improved traction across a wide range of terrain.

On the HD6 XT build wheels are one of the most popular swaps and upgrades.

Ibis offers the S35 Carbon rims with Industry Nine Hydra hubs from the factory for $1,400. But maybe you’re looking for something else?

Thought about that perfect color of King, Onyx or Industry Nine hubs to accent the build? Here at BikeCo you’re covered on all of those.

For rims, the 35mm internal Blackbird Send is a great high volume rim. But, maybe you want a narrower rim profile?

Let us custom build carbon wheels like NOX Farlow or Ibis S28 rims for a more rounded tire profile. Or maybe you still prefer aluminum rims like the WTB, RideFast or Factor? No problem, we build tons of custom King, i9 and Onyx aluminum wheels.

Contact our sales team to review options available both from Ibis as well as through BikeCo’s in-house custom wheel builders.

The HD6 XT Build is spec’d with a Maxxis EXO Plus Assegai front tire and Double Down DHR II Rear. Definitely appropriate for this 180/165mm travel Enduro Mullet.

Prefer something else? Have a go-to tire combo? Let’s get you dialed in. Want an EXO Plus rear, or a Double Down front, or a DHF, Dissector, Aggressor, whatever – let’s get you setup right, right out of the box.

Is there a grip / bar / stem combo you prefer? Let’s get that perfect setup for you.

Maybe a 35mm diameter bar and stem setup. Higher rise handlebars? Options from Tag, Renthal, RaceFace or OneUp are popular updates to the XT build.

Another popular upgrade is to a Cane Creek 110 or Chris King headset. King headsets are available in a variety of colors to accent your bike.

Popular Brake Swaps & Upgrades to the Ibis HD6 XT Build

Many riders will find the 4-piston Shimano XT brakes the perfect option for their HD6. The XT brakes perform well and are confident and predictable.

Riders shopping other brakes typically are looking for a slightly different power application feel than Shimano brakes offer.

TRP brakes have a bit more power as well as slightly more modulation.

Another popular swap or upgrade to the XT build are Magura brakes. Magura provides excellent power and unbeatable modulation. Riders can even fine tune the modulation with the MT7 HC3 setup. The HC3 brake lever features an adjustable slide that changes the brake’s leverage ratio to bring on the power sooner or deeper in the throw.

Not sure what brakes are best for your riding? Let out team help you define the best points of each model and how it applies to your personal riding style, goals and aspirations.

More info on the Ibis HD6 XT Build geometry is available on the tabs below.

Ibis HD6 Geometry

These tabs to review HD6 sizing as well as other class leading Enduro bikes from Monraker, Nukeproof and Yeti.

Click through the Ibis HD6 XT Builds’ five sizes. Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and XX-Large. With the wider size range the HD6 can be setup ideally for nearly any rider.

A confident and planted bike even in big terrain the 64 degree HD6 headtube angle is a blast attacking the trail.

Adding to the feel the Ibis HD6’s wheelbase and trail measurements give it the right personality for an aggressive enduro setup..

Height as well the length of arms and width of shoulders will be important to correct fitment here.

The HD6 has geo and sizing that are to be expected in a top tier Enduro bike. Designed around relatively short stems the HD6 accommodates a range of bar height and rise depending on rider specifics.

Of course this build is spec’d with the Ibis S35 Carbon rims and Industry 9 Hydra hubs – would you expect anything less?

Builds at this level are often customized even a bit more.

Maybe you want King hubs. Or a color of Industry Nine hubs to accent the build? How about Onyx silent hubs? At BikeCo we’ve got you covered on all of those.

The 35mm internal S35 is a great high volume rim. With the increased volume a lower PSI can be used for improved tire compliance and traction. But, maybe you want a narrower rim profile?

Let us custom build you a set of NOX or Ibis S28 rims for a more rounded tire profile.

Maybe you prefer a 35mm diameter setup. Want higher rise bars? Tag, Renthal, RaceFace or OneUp are popular updates to the XX AXS build.

Another popular upgrade is to a Cane Creek 110 or Chris King headset. King headsets are available in a variety of colors to accent your bike.

Popular Brake Swaps & Upgrades to the Ibis HD6 XX Transmission Build

Class leaders Shimano, TRP, Hope and Magura are all popular swaps from the Code RSC.

Shimano XT and XTR 4 piston brakes are popular and provide great power with snappy power performance.

TRP brakes are popular with riders who like Shimano but want a little more: a bit more power and more modulation that is.

The latest Hope Tech 4 brakes have improved their total power to parallel Shimano and Magura. Tech 4 brakes still provide the modulation that Hope riders have enjoyed for years.

Magura MT7 with the HC3 lever or HCW lever are the two most popular aftermarket brakes for builds at this level. Magura brakes continue to gain market popularity with excellent power as well as excellent modulation.

Chat with the BikeCo sales team to define which brakes are best for your riding style and preferences. We are happy to credit you for the stock brakes and get you excellent pricing on the perfect bits for your new bike.

Ibis HD6 Geometry

Looking for HD6 geo details? Use these tabs to review HD6 sizing as well as other class leading Enduro bikes.

Ibis HD6 XX AXS Builds are available in five sizes. Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and XX-Large. This size range means the HD6 can be setup ideally for nearly any rider.

A 64 degree headtube angle produces a planted, confident ride even in the biggest terrain.

The Ibis HD6’s relaxed headtube angle, wheelbase and trail measurements add to the bike’s great trail feel.

Like other Enduro MTB bikes the HD6 fit is going to be based around riders height, inseam, shoulder width and arm length.

Riders between Medium and Large will find Inseam an important measurement. Ibis publishes a notable standover difference between these sizes.

Equal published standover on the X-Large and XX-Large means riders will size based on overall height as well the length of their arms and width of their shoulders.

The HD6 has geo and sizing that are to be expected in a top tier Enduro bike. Designed around relatively short stems the HD6 accommodates a range of bar height and rise depending on rider specifics.

Questions on sizing? Get in touch with our team and we are happy to go over your details to ensure we get you on the right size bike for your riding!

Ibis HD6 Kit Differences

The HD6 is offered in three SRAM and two Shimano completes.

SLX versus XT Build

The HD6 SLX kit is the more cost-conscious of the Shimano bikes. SLX will be slightly heavier than the XT components but have the smooth Shimano feel.

These builds parallel with suspension, wheels, tires, headset and seating being equal spec.

The HD6 XT build does jump to the Blackbird HiFi bars as well as the Industry Nine A318 stem.

We will touch on some popular upgrades to the SLX and XT kits below.

Compare Ibis HD6 Kits: SRAM

Book ending the Ibis HD6 built kits are the GX and XX AXS or XX Transmission builds.

The GX build provides a lot of value with Factory Suspension and room to grow on any wear or upgrade bits down the line.

The HD6 XX AXS complete features upgraded wheels with Industry Nine Hydra hubs and Ibis Carbon rims as well as the wireless Transmission drivetrain (the strongest on the market) and the wireless SRAM Reverb post.

Between the GX and XX Ripmo builds is the latest from SRAM the GX AXS Transmission spec. The GX Transmission kit features t-type Transmission technology for the ultimate in service life and strength. Spec’d with Aluminum wheels this build features wireless shifting without breaking the bank.

Ibis HD6 Common Upgrades and Swaps. Bars / Cockpit, Brakes, Wireless Shifting, Pro Tune Suspension, Custom Wheels, Tires

Ibis HD6 Upgrades and Swaps

While Ibis specs a great bike “out of the box” there are some common areas we see riders take advantage of part swaps or upgrades particularly at time of purchase.

Getting your bike right is important to everyone on our team. There are a variety of parts that really modify a bike’s performance and we’re happy to help you get your dream bike delivered with that dream spec.

Common Ibis Upgrades

There are a handful of common swaps and upgrades we will see on just about any bike that leaves the shop. Many of these are personal preferences, some are performance based and others may be budget considerations.

Rider Contact Points

Grips, saddles and new pedals are common swaps, upgrades and additions. (remember bikes at this level do not come with pedals)

We offer a variety of the best in all of these categories and if we don’t have your favorite in stock we’re happy to look into it with you.

Tires

Have a go-to tire setup? Let’s get you dialed. Want a Double Down front or EXO Plus rear? Prefer the DHF? Something else? No problems.

Cockpit

Many riders will update the Ibis 31.8 cockpit for a 35mm handlebar and stem combo from Renthal, OneUp, Tag or RaceFace.

Brakes

Really one of the most important bits to your bike’s personality. Getting the right brake system and rotor selection makes a big difference on how comfortable and confident you’ll be on your bike.

Popular brake options here at BikeCo.com include Shimano, TRP, Hope and Magura.

Shimano brakes offer great overall power with quick power application, in part from the shorter brake lever and how that modifies the total lever throw.

TRP ride similar to Shimano with a bit more overall power and slightly better modulation.

Hope and Magura both have more modulation than Shimano or TRP, bringing power on through a longer lever stroke or through modified leverage rates.

Hope’s latest Tech 4 series have improved their overall power to be in the Shimano and Magura power range while keeping the great modulation feel.

Magura brakes offer excellent overall power as well as great modulation. Your Magura brakes can be fine tuned with a variety of brake levers to modify modulation feel as well. Magura brakes are available in a variety of price points and are popular upgrades or swaps across all of the HD6 builds.

Custom Wheels

Many riders will find that custom wheels provide unmatched performance. Whether you’re shopping aluminum or carbon our team of expert wheel builders will produce the best final product on the market.

NOX and Ibis are the most popular carbon rims while WTB, RideFast and Factor aluminum rims are great options.

Hub options include Chris King, Industry Nine, Factor and the silent Onyx Vesper options.

Wireless Shifting

While the XX AXS and GX AXS kit feature the new SRAM Transmission the GX and even the SLX and XT are popular options for the standard AXS upgrade either GX or X01.

Chat with our team about mating the GX AXS with Shimano Drivetrains.

Pro Tune Suspension

Take your bike’s performance to the next level with our proprietary Pro Tune Suspension. Our team will custom tune your FOX fork and rear shock and narrow the performance from the FOX Factory range to a more precise setup designed for your riding style, aggression, ground speed, size and terrain.

This is one of the biggest upgrades to any bike – having the suspension dialed in as well as having a resource like BikeCo to help you fine tune the bike at time of delivery and as your riding speeds increase!

Ibis HD6 Geometry

On the HD6 Ibis has produced a size run from Small to XX-Large to provide riders improved access to the ideal fit.

The HD6 features a 64 degree headtube angle across all sizes giving it a planted feel in the gnarliest terrain at big speeds.

Helping the bike’s confidence in full-tilt aggressive riding is the 64 degree headtube angle’s correlating wheelbase and trail measurements.

Like most modern enduro and trail bikes the HD6 fit is going to be balanced on riders height as well as inseam length, particularly between the Medium and Large sizes where the published standover height has a notable  jump.

The X-Large and XX-Large publish identical standover so sizing determinations tend to be based on height and arm length versus shoulder width.

Questions on sizing? Get in touch with our team and we are happy to go over your details to ensure we get you on the right size bike for your riding!
