T Series versus C Series: TURQ Carbon vs Carbon Frames

Typically Yeti specs TURQ Carbon frames for the T series builds and Carbon series for the C spec.

TURQ Carbon layups are slightly lighter than their Carbon counterparts, but most notably the TURQ Carbon frames are a bit more vibrant and stay that way longer into their service lives.

Heavier riders will really want to pay attention to frame selection. The additional stresses from a larger rider are easier for the more robust TURQ carbon layup to handle.

Lighter riders may still prefer the increased vibrance of the TURQ Carbon frames, but are less likely to see shorter service intervals as heavier riders may.

Yeti SB165 Kit Differences

The SB165 is available in four factory builds from Yeti. The Turq series T builds are availalbe in both T3 X0 Transmission as well as the T2 build. Carbon or C-Series bikes are available in the C3 GX Transmission and C2 bikes. Let’s take a quick look at some of the differences on these kits.

FOX Factory or Performance Suspension

Yeti spec’s the T-Series builds with a FOX Factory 38 GRIP2 fork. The C-Series bikes feature the FOX Performance 38 GRIP fork.

With FOX Factory suspension riders have the ultimate suspension damper design at their fingertips. On the GRIP2 riders have easy adjustments for high and low speed rebound as well as high and low speed compression. These improved controls are great for dialing in support for aggressive riding.

The C-Series bikes feature Performance suspension. Performance suspension is adjustable with PSI, Volume Spacing, Rebound and Compression depending on the exact spec.

Check out the Common Upgrades section for details on Pro Tune Suspension and Performance Upgrades.

Transmission versus Cable Driven Build Kit

Yeti SB165 TURQ series bikes are available in wireless SRAM T-Type X0 Transmission kit as well as a cable driven X01 bike.

The most popular Transmission bike is the X0 spec. It is designed to be slightly more robust for aggressive riding – most likely where you’ll have your SB165!

C2 versus C3 GX Transmission

For the SB165 Carbon series bikes the major difference is the cable driven GX drivetrain on the C2 build compared to the C3 with it’s GX Transmission T-Type spec for wireless shifting.

Keep reading about common swaps and upgrades to the SB165 builds on the next tab.

Yeti SB165 Upgrades and Swaps

You want your new bike dialed. The right spec will dial in your bike’s trail personality taking it from “pretty good” to “this is insane”. BikeCo is here to ensure you get the right parts, right off the bat. Small swaps and upgrades are common for every mountain bike. Let’s glance at some of the more popular Yeti SB165 Upgrades and Part Swaps.

Yeti spec’s great kit options for the SB165. Really there are few components on the SB165 builds would be considered “no-go”. From the C2 all the way to the T3 X0 Transmission builds there is a lot of value for your dollar in the Yeti build.

However, it’s common for riders to have spec preferences. Whether it’s a performance swap or upgrade or getting you that perfect part in the right color to personalize the SB165’s performance or look we have you covered.

Common SB165 Upgrades

These are areas we commonly see riders update a bike purchase. Some are personal preference, others are budget or performance choices. Questions? Chat, email or call our expert sales staff and we will help you dial in your perfect Yeti SB165.

Rider Contact Points

Do you have a preferred grip and pedal go-to?

We can provide a range of grips with variable patterns, technology and shape to improve your riding. There might even be a grip in a color to set off your Turquoise, Radium or Cobalt SB165 as well.

A lot of riders purchasing a new bike find it a good time to refresh their pedals. We have the best clipless and flat options for a wide range of riding styles at unbeatable prices.

Tires

Like contact points its not unusual for riders to have a “must-have” go to tire spec. This is one of the most common swaps on builds from any manufacturer. With notable performance differences between tread pattern, compound and sidewall lets make sure we get you on the perfect tire setup.

The SB165 is spec’d with an Assegai EXO Plus front tire and a Minion DHR II Double Down Rear.

It’s not unusual to see riders upgrade to a Double Down front tire. This adds some tire protection but more notably increases the small bump compliance damping through the tire allowing for a more progressive suspension setup to resist the forces of aggressive enduro riding.

Another option for SB160 front tires is the Minion DHF in EXO Plus or Double Down. The Minion DHF is a slightly faster rolling option which many riders enjoy in a range of terrain.

On the rear tire some riders will spec a more aggressive tread pattern like the Assegai. Or, the opposite and sometimes we’ll see riders spec a faster rear tire like a Double Down Aggressor.

It really comes down to what you like and where you’re using it. Questions on what tires are right for your riding style and locale? No problem – chat with our team about swapping to tires perfect for you on your new MTB.

Maybe you’re also thinking about rim protection? We have that covered too. We often see riders use combinations of CushCore PRO and CushCore XC or even a single rim protection strip (usually on the rear tire). Questions? Let us know!

Cockpit

Along with Brakes, Cockpit is the most common place we see part swaps and upgrades. Since fit is so important to your bike it’s not surprising that you’ll want to work with a resource that has more than 1 option!

Handlebar rise and overall stiffness also improve the personalization and performance of your bike. As you trim your bars they will get stiffer due to the decreased lever arm – so if you’ve got narrower shoulders you’ll likely want to start with a narrower bar rather than cutting tons off. Similarly getting the right bar rise will help your setup. Ideally you want your hands in a power position. Too low and the bike will try to pull “under” and out in steep chutes. Too tall and you’ll lose front end grip. While some of this is adapted with headset spacers the preference for performance and looks is generally to have 15-30mm of spacers and get the rest of the rise from the handlebar.

Looking for suggestions? Chat with our team about hand positioning and the advantages of getting the right handlebar rise on your new rig. We have the best in the market from OneUp, Tag, Renthal and Raceface.

Headset

Many riders will update the Cane Creek 40 to a Cane Creek 110 or Chris King headset that will last the service life of the frame. Chris King riders can choose from a range of colors as well.

Brakes

This is one of the most common swaps or upgrades on any bike. Brakes that compliment your riding style and preference make a huge difference on trail. We offer class leading options in a variety of price points from Hope, Magura, Shimano and TRP.

Most riders will update brakes on the Yeti SB160. Updating with BikeCo means we will credit you for the SRAM brakes and get your preferred stoppers on your new bike.

Shimano brakes are very popular and are spec’d on several of the build options. Shimano brakes have good overall power with quick lever throw. This produces a brake with a strong feel.

TRP brakes are similar to the Shimano lineup. The TRP brakes provide a touch more overall power and extra modulation compared to Shimano offerings.

Riders who prefer a bit more modulation or “feel” to their brakes gravitate towards Hope and Magura.

The latest Hope Tech 4 updates have improved their power. This puts the Hope Tech 4 in the Shimano and Magura range for overall power while retaining the excellent modulation Hope has been known for.

Magura brakes are the most frequent swap or upgrade across all Ibis builds. Riders who appreciate modulation and power will find Magura excellent in both aspects. Magura offers models with across a wide price range allowing budget friendly swaps or upgrades. Riders looking for the most adjustability or tuning for their brakes will shop the MT7 with HC3 levers.

Custom Wheels

Handbuilt or custom wheels are another popular upgrade no matter what brand you’re shopping. Custom wheels allow riders to spec a rim, spoke and hub combination as well as build specifics for the ultimate performance.

Custom wheels for Ibis builds usually feature slightly narrower rim options. This will decrease the volume slightly as well as shifting the tire’s shape to provide more grip in high lean cornering. We see many riders work with NOX carbon or WTB, Factor and RideFast alloy options.

Riders also will find traction from using the right spokes and build techniques. Our team will help you define this at time of purchase to ensure you maximize performance and longevity.

Popular hubs from Chris King, Industry Nine, Onyx and Factor are spec’d on Yeti SB160 builds. All of these hubs are available in a range of colors to highlight your build.

Pro Tune Suspension

Take your bike’s performance to the next level with our proprietary Pro Tune Suspension. Our team will custom tune your FOX fork and rear shock and narrow the performance from the FOX Factory range to a more precise setup designed for your riding style, aggression, ground speed, size and terrain.

This is one of the biggest upgrades to any bike – having the suspension dialed in as well as having a resource like BikeCo to help you fine tune the bike at time of delivery and as your riding speeds increase!

BikeCo Pro Tune Suspension – because Every Click Counts.

Yeti SB165 Geometry

The Yeti SB165 is available in four sizes: Small, Medium, Large and X-Large.

Use the tabs below for more info on the SB165 Geo, compare sizes with the Geo Chart as well as see how the SB165 measures up against other bikes on the Comparison tab.

Like other Yeti bikes the SB165 is sized from rider height, flexibility, application, as well as leg and arm length. Riders who find their height in the cross-over of sizes will determine the better size based typically on inseam, flexibility and riding style.

Those with longer legs tend to upsize to improve riding position. This will increase the wheelbase and produce a bike with a bit more overall speed capacity. Going to a larger size will produce a ride that isn’t quite as snappy as a smaller option would be.

Riders with longer torsos or looking for a more “poppy” trail feel will tend to downsize. Although, with modern MTB frames designed to accommodate increased dropper post lengths riders who prefer the added wheelbase may upsize – so long as the reach doesn’t compromise stem size availability or put a rider “too far” over the front wheel.

Use the tabs to compare SB165 sizes as well as other against other MTB geo.

Yeti ARC Kit Differences

The ARC T-Series builds include the T4 XX Transmission, T3 X0 Transmission and T2 builds. Carbon series bikes are available in the C2 kit.

Let’s highlight the differences between Yeti’s factory builds then jump over to the Common Upgrades and Swaps tab for more details on how you may want to modify your new bike to dial in it’s performance.

FOX Factory or Performance Suspension

Yeti spec’s the T-Series ARC with a FOX Factory 34 FIT4 with 130mm travel.

On FOX Factory suspension riders have the ultimate suspension damper at their fingertips. The FIT4 fork damper offers adjustment through PSI, Volume Spacing, Rebound, Low Speed Compression as well as a 3 position “climb” switch. This provides a wide range of tuning capacity especially via the low speed compression to adjust support for cornering and descending.

The C-Series bikes feature FOX Performance 34 GRIP forks. Performance suspension is adjustable with PSI, Volume Spacing, Rebound and Compression depending on the exact spec.

Check out the Common Upgrades section for details on Pro Tune Suspension and Performance Upgrades for FOX Suspension.

Transmission versus Cable Driven Build Kit

Yeti  ARC TURQ series bikes are available in wireless SRAM T-Type Transmission kits, the T4 XX Transmission and T3 X0 Transmission, as well as a cable driven X01 bike.

On the C-Series bike a the cable driven GX C2 build is available.

Along with the wireless capacity the new Transmission T-Type drivetrain is notably stronger and longer lasting than previous options.

Wheels

Depending on your weight and riding style the stock Yeti wheels may be something to really focus on. The C-Series bikes feature Crank Bros Synthesis Enduro wheels while the T-Series bikes spec the DT Swiss 350 with RaceFace ARC option.

Common Yeti ARC Upgrades and Swaps

Yeti ARC Upgrades and Swaps

The right spec your bike takes performance from “pretty good” to “this is insane”. BikeCo is here to ensure you get the right parts, right at delivery. Small swaps and upgrades are common for every mountain bike. Here are some of the popular Yeti ARC Upgrades and Part Swaps.

The Yeti ARC offers a nice range of price point builds. Riders will find few components on the ARC builds they would consider “no-go”. From the C2 to the way to the T4 XX Transmission builds there is a lot of value for your dollar in the Yeti build.

Riders develop spec preferences, particularly on contact points, brakes, wheels or suspension. Whether it’s a must have performance swap or upgrade to getting you that perfect part in the right color to personalize the ARC’s performance or look we have you covered.

Common ARC Upgrades

These are areas we commonly see riders update a bike purchase. Some swaps and upgrades are personal preference, others are budget or performance choices. Questions? Chat, email or call our expert sales staff and we will help you dial in your perfect Yeti ARC build.

Rider Contact Points

Do you have a preferred grip and pedal go-to?

We can provide a range of grips with variable patterns, technology and shape to improve your riding. There might even be a grip in a color to set off your Turquoise, Rhino or Cobalt ARC build.

When purchasing a new bike many riders find it a good time to refresh their pedals. We have the best clipless and flat options for a wide range of riding styles at unbeatable prices.

Tires

Like contact points its common for riders to have a “must-have” go to tire spec. This is one of the most frequent swaps on builds from any manufacturer. With notable performance differences between tread pattern, compound and sidewall lets make sure we get you on the perfect tire setup.

The ARC is spec’d with a Maxxis Minion DHF EXO front tire.

While MOST adventure riders gravitate to the EXO sidewall some prefer the lightest option out there the simple skinwall tire. Lighter, but with less damping and protection this isn’t as common as it was a few years ago. Damping through tires has become better understood and taken advantage of, particularly on hardtail bikes. To this end a few riders shop the EXO Plus sidewall balancing the weight with the improvement in small bump compliance.

Spec’d with a 2.6 front tire there is some added suspension through the higher volume tire. Some riders will prefer a quicker tire like a narrower DHF, although if you’re really looking for a faster tire you would probably consider a faster tread pattern like the Rekon. If you’re on the fence it’s generally a good idea to start with a slightly more aggressive tire for more grip than to build a new bike you’ll struggle to ride…

Yeti spec’d Maxxis Rekon 2.6 EXO sidewall rear tires on the ARC bikes. Typically this is seen paired with a faster front tire option. Riders who’ve gone to a Rekon front tire should swap to a Rekon or Ikon rear for a balanced feel.

Swapping to an Aggressor is a very popular rear tire for this bike when paired with the DHF front. A niche of riders will want a bit more in the rear and go to DHF or DHR II tread pattern for increased grip.

It really comes down to what you like and where you’re using it. Questions on what tires are right for your riding style and locale? No problem – chat with our team about swapping to tires perfect for you on your new MTB.

Thinking about rim protection?

Most riders will update brakes on the Yeti SB140.

Popular hubs from Chris King, Industry Nine, Onyx and Factor are spec’d on Yeti SB140 builds.

Yeti ARC Geometry

The Yeti ARC is available in four sizes: Small, Medium, Large and X-Large. This allows a wide range of rider heights access to the ARC hardtail.

Use the tabs below for more info on the ARC Geo, compare sizes with the Geo Chart as well as see how the ARC measures up against other bikes on the Comparison tab.

Like other Yeti bikes the ARC is sized from rider height, flexibility, application, as well as leg and arm length.

Use the tabs to compare ARC sizes as well as other against other MTB geo.

Compare Yeti SB135 Builds

So what are the main differences? How should you narrow your options? What are common swaps and upgrades? Here we go with details to compare Yeti SB135 kits!

SB135 vs SB135 Lunch Ride

First you’ll want to narrow down which Yeti SB135 is right for you. So here are some basic differences between the bikes.

Fork Travel

The Lunch Ride is spec’d with a 160mm fork compared to the standard SB135’s 150mm fork. This produces a personality difference through both the 6% longer travel as well as the geometry shifts. FOX forks can have air shafts changed so you can start with either 150 or 160 and swap down the line if your preference changes.

Geo Differences

The Lunch Ride has a 65 degree headtube angle, 76.5 degree effective seat tube and an estimated 340mm bottom bracket height.
A Standard SB140 is slightly steeper with a 65.5 degree headtube angle, 77 degree seattube angle and 3mm lower bottom bracket at 337mm.

Rear Shock

Since geo shifts are based on the fork and the fork travel can be relatively easily swapped the rear shock is really where the heart of the difference is on these bikes.

The standard SB135 is spec’d with the FOX DPS single canister rear shock. This shock is very popular with really light riders as its tuning range is more forgiving particularly on small bump compliance for smaller riders. Riders looking for the lightest, “poppiest” build will look at the DPS (although, these riders should also consider the SB120 at length as well).

On the SB135 Lunch Ride riders find the FOX Float X piggyback shock. This is a more robust shock with better resistance to heat saturation and more tuning options for support in burly terrain. Few riders would notice the extra weight of this shock making the Lunch Ride even with a 150mm fork a popular option.

T Series verus C Series: TURQ Carbon vs Carbon Frames

Yeti specs TURQ Carbon frames for T series builds and Carbon series for C spec kits.

Yeti SB135 Kit Differences

The SB135 is available in a range of Yeti build kits. T-Series builds include the T4 XX Transmission, T3 X0 Transmission and T2 builds.

Yeti spec’s the T-Series Lunch Ride builds with a FOX Factory 36 GRIP2 with 160mm travel as well as the FOX Factory Float X rear shock. For T-Series SB135 bikes a FOX Factory FIT4 fork at 150mm as well as a FOX Factory DPS shock are used.

The SB135 Lunch Ride C-Series bikes feature the FOX Performance 36 GRIP fork at 160mm and the Performance Float X rear shock. The standard SB135 C-Series builds utilize the Performance 36 GRIP fork at 150mm and a FOX Performance DPS rear shock.

With FOX Factory suspension riders have the ultimate suspension damper design at their fingertips. On both the GRIP2 riders have easy adjustments for high and low speed rebound as well as high and low speed compression. These improved controls are great for dialing in support for aggressive riding. Both the Factory Float X and Factory DPS provide low speed compression controls not found on the Performance models.

Yeti SB135 TURQ series bikes are available in wireless SRAM T-Type Transmission kits as well as a cable driven X01 bike.

The most popular Transmission bike is the X0 spec. It is designed to be slightly more robust for aggressive riding – a nice feature if you plan to find you SB135 Lunch Ride’s limits.

The T4 XX Transmission build parallels pretty close to the other T-Series bikes outside the drivetain spec. A Cane Creek 110 headset and FOX Factory Transfer seatpost are the notable differences.

Keep reading about common swaps and upgrades to the SB135 builds on the next tab.

Yeti SB135 Common Upgrades and Part Swaps

Yeti SB135 Upgrades and Swaps

With the right spec your bike’s trail personality can jump from “pretty good” to “this is insane”. BikeCo is here to ensure you get the right parts, right at delivery. Small swaps and upgrades are common for every mountain bike. Here are some of the popular Yeti SB135 Upgrades and Part Swaps.

Yeti’s current spec gives a range of price points for the SB135. Riders find few components on the SB135 builds they would consider “no-go”. From the C2 all the way to the T4 XX Transmission builds there is a lot of value for your dollar in the Yeti build.

Riders develop spec preferences, particularly on contact points, brakes, wheels or suspension. Whether it’s a must have performance swap or upgrade to getting you that perfect part in the right color to personalize the SB135’s performance or look we have you covered.

Common SB135 Upgrades

These are areas we commonly see riders update a bike purchase. Some swaps and upgrades are personal preference, others are budget or performance choices. Questions? Chat, email or call our expert sales staff and we will help you dial in your perfect Yeti SB135 or SB135 Lunch Ride.

Rider Contact Points

Do you have a preferred grip and pedal go-to?

We can provide a range of grips with variable patterns, technology and shape to improve your riding. There might even be a grip in a color to set off your Turquoise, Rhino or Cherry SB135 as well.

The SB135 and SB135 Lunch Ride are each spec’d with a Maxxis Minion DHF EXO front tire.

It’s not unusual to see this swapped an EXO Plus, or even a Double Down for the SB135 Lunch Ride. Other riders will prefer a more aggressive front tire like the Maxxis Assegai also in an EXO Plus or Double Down. Depending on rear tire preference its common to see the front tire as a 2.5 instead of the spec’d 2.6″.

On the standard Yeti SB135 a Maxxis Rekon EXO rear tire is spec’d. It is a very common swap to change this to an Aggressor or DHR II. While the Rekon has a faster tread pattern many riders will prefer the additional grip of the DHR II or Aggressor. EXO and EXO Plus sidewalls are the most common for the SB135 rear tire options.

On the Yeti SB135 Lunch Ride a Minion DHR II EXO tire is spec’d. As mentioned both EXO Plus and Double Down are common swaps here. Other riders may prefer a faster rolling tire and move to an Aggressor tread pattern. Some will go with more grip than the DHR II with an Assegai depending on terrain.

It really comes down to what you like and where you’re using it. Questions on what tires are right for your riding style and locale? No problem – chat with our team about swapping to tires perfect for you on your new MTB.

Thinking about rim protection?

Most riders will update brakes on the Yeti SB140.

Popular hubs from Chris King, Industry Nine, Onyx and Factor are spec’d on Yeti SB140 builds.

Yeti SB135 Geometry

The Yeti SB135 is available in five sizes: X-Small, Small, Medium, Large and X-Large. This allows a wide range of riders access to the 27.5″ trail bike. Riders shopping XXL sizes will gravitate to the 29″ SB140.

Use the tabs below for more info on the SB140 Geo, compare sizes with the Geo Chart as well as see how the SB135 measures up against other Trail and Light Enduro MTB bikes on the Comparison tab.

Like other Yeti bikes the SB135 is sized from rider height, flexibility, application, as well as leg and arm length.

Use the tabs to compare SB135 sizes as well as other against other trail bike MTB geo.

Cross Country capable but with a competent trail feel and personality: Down-Country right? Well the Yeti SB120 and SB120 Lunch Ride have that covered. Keep reading to Compare Yeti SB120 Builds, compare  geo as well as see common upgrades and part swaps our clients take advantage of here at BikeCo.com.

As the name implies you’ll find 120mm of rear travel on the SB120. On the standard SB120 builds riders find a 130mm FOX fork spec’d while the stock Yeti SB120 Lunch Ride features a RockShox 140mm Pike.

The 130mm fork spec SB120 features FOX Float DPS shocks while the Lunch Ride is configured with a RockShox Super Deluxe.

The Yeti SB120 is available in Turquoise, Raw Carbon (Black) and Loch.

Now, lets jump into common swaps and upgrades a little early: since FOX fork travel is easily swapped with air shafts it is VERY common to see riders turn the standard FOX kits into 130mm fork options to give the bike a more relaxed geo while maintaining the FOX DPS shock. More on common upgrades and swaps later.

Yeti has a great run of kits for the SB120. The SB120 is available in the T3 X0 Transmission, T2, C3 GX Transmission as well as the C2 builds. The Lunch Ride SB120 is spec’d with the T3 X0 Transmission and C2 builds.

Compare Yeti SB120 Kits

Where are major differences? How should you narrow your options? Here come the details to compare Yeti SB120 kits!

SB120 vs SB120 Lunch Ride

First you’ll want to narrow down which Yeti SB120 setup is right for you. Here are some differences between the bikes.

Fork Travel

The Lunch Ride SB120 is spec’d with a 130mm fork compared to the standard SB135’s 120mm fork. This produces a personality difference through both the approx 8% longer travel but probably more notably through the geometry shifts. As mentioned above FOX forks can have air shafts changed so you can start with either 130 or 140 and swap down the line if your preference changes.

Geo Differences

The Lunch Ride has a 66.2 degree headtube angle, 76.1 degree effective seat tube and an estimated 337mm bottom bracket height.
A Standard SB120 is slightly steeper with a 66.5 degree headtube angle, 76.5 degree seattube angle and 2mm lower bottom bracket at 335mm.

Rear Shock

Since geo shifts are based on the fork and the fork travel can be relatively easily swapped the rear shock is really where the heart of the difference is on these bikes.

The standard SB120 is spec’d with the FOX DPS single canister rear shock. This shock is very popular with really light riders as its tuning range is more forgiving particularly on small bump compliance for smaller riders. FOX’s DPS has proven to be a robust shock with minimal issues across a wide range of riders.

On the factory spec’d SB120 Lunch Ride builds riders find RockShox Suspension including the Super Deluxe rear shock.

Many riders will update the FOX fork travel to 140mm for the Lunch Ride Geo while maintaining the Float DPS shock option. While the DPS isn’t known as an aggressive shock in the FOX lineup it holds its own for most trail riders. Those looking to really push past what the DPS can do, or riders on the heavier end of the spectrum, might do well to investigate the SB140 Lunch Ride with the FOX Float X shock as well as the SB120 options.

T Series verus C Series: TURQ Carbon vs Carbon Frames

Yeti specs TURQ Carbon frames for T series builds and Carbon series for C spec kits.

Yeti SB120 Kit Differences

The SB120 is available in a range of Yeti build kits. T-Series builds include the T3 X0 Transmission, in Lunch Ride or Standard, and T2 builds. Carbon series bikes are available in the C2 kit as well as the C3 GX Transmission with wireless shifting.

Let’s highlight the differences between Yeti’s factory builds then jump over to the Common Upgrades and Swaps tab for more details on how you may want to modify your new bike to dial in it’s performance.

FOX Factory or Performance Suspension

Yeti spec’s the T-Series standard SB120 builds with a FOX Factory 34 FIT4 with 130mm travel as well as the FOX Factory Float DPS rear shock.

With FOX Factory suspension riders have the ultimate suspension damper design at their fingertips. The FIT4 fork damper offers adjustment through PSI, Volume Spacing, Rebound, Low Speed Compression as well as a 3 position “climb” switch. This provides a wide range of tuning capacity especially via the low speed compression to adjust support for cornering and descending. These improved controls are great for dialing in support for aggressive riding. The Factory DPS provide low speed compression controls not found on the Performance models.

The C-Series bikes feature FOX Performance 34 GRIP forks with FOX Performance Float DPS rear shocks.

Yeti SB120 TURQ series bikes are available in wireless SRAM T-Type Transmission kits as well as a cable driven X01 bike.

With the C3 GX Transmission build Yeti has provided a wireless C-Series bike as well as the cable driven GX C2 build.

Then keep reading about common swaps and upgrades to the SB120 builds on the next tab.

SB120 Common Upgrades and Swaps

Yeti SB120 Upgrades and Swaps

The right spec your bike takes performance from “pretty good” to “this is insane”. BikeCo is here to ensure you get the right parts, right at delivery. Small swaps and upgrades are common for every mountain bike. Here are some of the popular Yeti SB120 Upgrades and Part Swaps.

Yeti’s current spec gives a range of price points for the SB120. Riders find few components on the SB120 builds they would consider “no-go”. From the C2 all the way to the T3 X0 Transmission builds there is a lot of value for your dollar in the Yeti build.

Riders develop spec preferences, particularly on contact points, brakes, wheels or suspension. Whether it’s a must have performance swap or upgrade to getting you that perfect part in the right color to personalize the SB120’s performance or look we have you covered.

Common SB120 Upgrades

These are areas we commonly see riders update a bike purchase. Some swaps and upgrades are personal preference, others are budget or performance choices. Questions? Chat, email or call our expert sales staff and we will help you dial in your perfect Yeti SB120 or SB120 Lunch Ride.

Rider Contact Points

Do you have a preferred grip and pedal go-to?

We can provide a range of grips with variable patterns, technology and shape to improve your riding. There might even be a grip in a color to set off your Turquoise, Raw Carbon or Loch SB120 as well.

The SB120 and SB120 Lunch Ride are each spec’d with a Maxxis Minion DHF EXO front tire.

MOST adventure and trail riders gravitate to the EXO sidewall. A few will consider an EXO Plus balancing the weight with the improvement in small bump compliance.

Some riders will use a narrower DHF, although if you’re really looking for a faster tire you would probably consider a faster tread pattern like the Rekon. If you’re on the fence it’s generally a good idea to start with a slightly more aggressive tire for more grip than to build a new bike you’ll struggle to ride…

Yeti has spec’d Aggressor EXO sidewall tires on the SB120 bikes. This is a very popular rear tire for this bike when paired with the DHF front. A niche of riders will want a bit more in the rear and go to DHF or DHR II tread pattern for increased grip. Riders who’ve gone to a Rekon front tire should swap to a Rekon or Ikon rear for a balanced feel.

It really comes down to what you like and where you’re using it. Questions on what tires are right for your riding style and locale? No problem – chat with our team about swapping to tires perfect for you on your new MTB.

Thinking about rim protection?

Most riders will update brakes on the Yeti SB140.

Popular hubs from Chris King, Industry Nine, Onyx and Factor are spec’d on Yeti SB140 builds.

Yeti SB120 Geometry

The Yeti SB120 is available in six sizes: X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and XX-Large. This is the widest range of sizes in any Yeti model allowing the most riders to take advantage of the SB120’s class leading adventure / trail / down-country personality.

Use the tabs below for more info on the SB120 Geo, compare sizes with the Geo Chart as well as see how the SB120 measures up against other bikes on the Comparison tab.

Like other Yeti bikes the SB120 is sized from rider height, flexibility, application, as well as leg and arm length.

Use the tabs to compare SB120 sizes as well as other against other trail bike MTB geo.

T4 XX Transmission Drivetrain

This drivetrain is spec’d with the very top of the food chain in the new SRAM T-Type Transmission lineup. The T-Type drivetrains are designed to be the strongest and longest lasting on the market. You’ll ride more while replacing less…

Drivetrain Upgrades:

Well, it’s not an “upgrade” in the technical sense. However, riders who are really pushing the ends of the SB140’s capacity often will  compare the T4 XX Transmission versus the T3 X0 Transmission spec. While the T4 is an amazing option, being the lightest on the market as well as having an amazing look – the T3 X0 Transmission is a slightly more robust lineup for those who know they’re going to be beating on it.

T4 XX Transmission Wheels and Tires

The Yeti SB140 Lunch Ride T4 bike is spec’d with RaceFace rims featuring a 30mm internal rim width with DT Swiss 350 hubs.

That’s no slouch as far as a wheelset – but, if you’re shopping at this level you’ll probably at least investigate some handbuilt options to compliment your riding and bike build!

Wheel Upgrades:

Riders shopping this level of bike often look at adding a bit to the budget to take it to the next level. Many riders go for Chris King, Industry Nine or Onyx hubs laced to either carbon or aluminum rims.

The most popular carbon rims are the Enduro layup of the Farlow or Kitsuma.

Wheels are an important aspect to your bike’s performance. If you’re shopping custom wheels chat with our team about how the rim choice, spoke spec and build details can help you improve your small bump compliance across a wide range of terrain.

Tire Swaps / Upgrades:

Like contact points its not unusual for riders to have a “must-have” go to tire spec. This is one of the most common swaps on builds from any manufacturer. With notable performance differences between tread pattern, compound and sidewall lets make sure we get you on the perfect tire setup.

Both the SB140 and SB140 Lunch Ride are spec’d with a Maxxis Minion DHF EXO front tire.

It’s not unusual to see this swapped an EXO Plus, or even a Double Down for the SB140 Lunch Ride. Other riders will prefer a more aggressive front tire like the Maxxis Assegai also in an EXO Plus or Double Down.

Yeti’s SB140 builds feature a Maxxis Aggressor EXO rear tire. Like the front tire we often see this swapped to a more robust sidewall to help with small bump compliance. Some riders may swap to the Minion DHF or Minion DHR II for a bit more traction than the Aggressor tread pattern.

On the Yeti SB140 Lunch Ride a Minion DHR II EXO tire is spec’d.

We have that covered too.

Rim Protection:

Another common upgrade to eMTB builds is to add rim protection to the bike. Whether you’re looking for just a single wheel, or both wheels with CushCore Pro or to mix and match with the CushCore XC BikeCo has you covered.

T4 XX Transmission Cockpit and Brakes

Like tires nearly every bike sees swaps and upgrades on cockpit and brakes. So let’s jump right into it.

Cockpit Swaps and Upgrades

You’re going to need the right size cockpit to get the most out of your bike. That’s why we setup riders with the right handlebar and stem.

It’s important to get your hands into the right position. So you’re going to need the correct rise and width on your handlebar. Handlebar width is an extremely important factor as well. Trimming bars will decrease the leverage ratio which can make your rider harsher than it needs to be. Starting with a bar closer to the ideal width, or perhaps a less stiff bar to begin with are both common swaps to the stock Yeti cockpit.

Stem length is an important factor as well. Chat with our team about your height, wingspan and flexibility so we can help you dial in your setup.

Brakes are an important factor in your bike’s overall personality.

Popular Brake Swaps & Upgrades

BikeCo offers the best brakes from Shimano, TRP, Hope and Magura.

Riders looking for great power with snappy performance gravitate to Shimano SLX, XT and XTR brakes.

TRP offers even a little more power with slightly improved modulation compared to Shimano.

With the Tech 4 Hope has increased their total power in-line with Shimano and Magura without compromising their amazing modulation.

Magura continues to be the most popular aftermarket brake, especially installed on new builds. We will credit you for any part swaps and with the variety of Magura price points most riders find the MT5 and MT7 brakes provide unbeatable value. Magura brakes offer great total power and top tier modulation without feeling soft. Magura offers a variety of brake levers to help riders fine tune their performance.

Popular Headset Upgrades

Many Yeti riders will upgrade to the Cane Creek 110 or Chris King options. With basic maintenance the upgraded Cane Creek 110 or Chris King headset will last the lifetime of the frame.

FOX Factory suspension provides riders the ultimate damping controls such as the high and low speed rebound as well as high and low speed compression found on the GRIP2 forks.

With BikeCo’s Pro Tune Suspension Service you can. In short we’ll take you details including size, riding style, aggression, ground speeds, location and aspirations and shift the FOX damper’s performance to those specifics.

T2 Drivetrain

The X01 Eagle drivetrain has been the go-to in cable driven shifting for years. Balancing weight with performance and longevity it’s hard to get more for your dollar than the SRAM X01 collection.

Drivetrain Upgrades:

However, there are a lot of popular swaps and upgrades to the T2 X01 drivetrain.

One that we see a lot is to add an XX1 chain or XX1 Cassette for that perfect accent color. Another common swap/upgrade is to oval chain rings depending on your preference. Chain guides are another popular component for the SB140.

T2 Wheels and Tires

The Yeti SB140 Lunch Ride T2 bike is spec’d with RaceFace rims featuring a 30mm internal rim width with DT Swiss 350 hubs.

We have that covered too.

Rim Protection:

Another common upgrade to eMTB builds is to add rim protection to the bike. Whether you’re looking for just a single wheel, or both wheels with CushCore Pro or to mix and match with the CushCore XC BikeCo has you covered.

T2 Cockpit and Brakes

Yeti SB140 Geometry

The Yeti SB140 is available in five sizes: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and XX-Large. There is a SB140 available for nearly every rider.

Use the tabs below for more info on the SB140 Geo, compare sizes with the Geo Chart as well as see how the SB140 measures up against other Trail to Enduro MTB bikes on the Comparison tab.

Like other Yeti bikes the SB140 is sized from rider height, flexibility, application, as well as leg and arm length.

Use the tabs to compare SB140 sizes as well as other against other enduro MTB geo.
