Ibis Ripmo AF Frame Details

Ripmo AF Headset Spec
Upper ZS44 – Zero Stack, Press Fit
Lower ZS56 – Zero Stack, Press Fit
Ibis Ripmo AF Frame Headtube Detail

Ripmo AF Headset Details

The Ripmo AF frame uses a ZS44 upper and ZS56 lower press fit headset.

Since a quality headset press makes installation much easier many home builders will have BikeCo press a the headset prior to shipment.

Upgrades for the Ripmo AF headst spec are the Cane Creek 110 or Chris King headsets. With proper service these should last the lifetime of your Ripmo AF.

Can I Use an Angleset Headset? There would be extremely few conditions that we would use an angleset. Riders looking for a slacker, more aggressive Ripmo AF are better suited increasing the fork travel to 170mm. This keeps the steer tube concentric in the headset. Additionally a longer fork will slacken the headtube and slightly increase the bottom bracket – both great for riding bigger, burlier terrain. Slackening the bike, with an angleset and 160mm fork will actually lower the BB and stack – counter intuitive to the goals of a slacker headtube.

Deore Drivetrain Details

The Deore drivetrain is the most cost-conscious Shimano option. Shimano drivetrains are known for their crisp shifting.

Some riders may upgrade the chain for a bit smoother performance.

As chain, cassette and chain ring are wear items these are often upgraded later in the service life.

Ibis Ripmo AF Deore kit Wheel detail

Deore Wheel and Tire Details

Ibis’ Blackbird Send alloy wheel is a great spec for the Deore build. The 35mm internal rim width allows a high volume tire shape for lower PSI as well as improved traction.

A common wheel upgrade to the stock Deore wheel is adding CushCore rim protection. This lessens the chance of rim damage or cut sidewalls.

The Maxxis Assegai 2.5″ EXO Plus front tire is a great choice for aggressive riding. Similarly the DHR II EXO Plus provides riders with a robust option. Some riders may prefer the added protection and damping of Double Down sidewalls. These are popular in aggressive terrain as well as allow riders even lower PSI for improved traction.

Some lighter riders may prefer the quicker acceleration of the EXO sidewall.

Riders looking for a faster rolling tire setup should investigate swapping the Assegai for a DHF. And in the rear an Aggressor instead of the DHR II is a faster accelerating option.

Already have a favorite tire pairing? Let’s get it on your Ripmo AF right off the bat. Tires are a very personal feel and if you prefer an EXO Plus rear, or a Double Down front, or a DHF, Dissector, Aggressor, whatever – let’s get you setup right, right out of the box.

Looking for rim protection? We have you covered there too. Chat with our team to get CushCore Pro or XC rim protection installed before delivery.

Deore Cockpit & Brakes Details

No matter which model or brand you’re shopping, to get the fit right you might be swapping or upgrading handlebar and stem! Some riders will prefer a 35mm diameter combo. Others will need a taller rise handlebar. Some prefer to upgrade to carbon options to improve damping and take some of the abuse our of their hands. BikeCo has you covered.

Is there a grip / bar / stem combo you like? No problem, we can get your bike spec perfect for you.

Common cockpit upgrades to the Ripmo AF Deore cockpit?

Alloy handlebars from Renthal and Tag in 35mm diameter are great to dial in rise options.

However the most popular cockpit upgrade is carbon 35mm handlebars. Carbon handlebars add damping to the aluminum AF bike. Most popular are the OneUp or Tag carbon bars upgrades. Both of these manufacturers feature design and layup considerations to maximize damping while reducing hand fatigue.

Sizing you handlebar is important. MTB bars are offered with different levels of stiffness. When you trim a bar this is modified (as you trim the bar you lower the leverage ratio). Getting a bar right for your weight and riding style goes a long way to improving your trail experience. Ideally riders should balance power transfer with bars compliant enough to minimize hand fatigue.

Chat with our team for details on handlebar setup differences for your MTB.

A common upgrade in MTB is finding brakes that compliment your riding style. Read on for details on various brake brands personality. BikeCo stocks #theBestinMTB and curates our selection to ensure unbeatable quality and reliability.

Popular Brake Swaps & Upgrades to the Ibis Ripmo AF Deore

BikeCo offers brakes from Shimano, TRP, Hope and Magura. This allows us to cover a wide range or rider preference with top quality brands.

The Deore complete is spec’d with 4-piston Shimano Deore M6120 brakes. This is a pretty popular option.

Shimano brakes provide good power with snappy performance. This is in part from their short lever throw. Many riders gravitate to Shimano SLX, XT and XTR brakes.

Other riders may prefer brakes with more modulation. Modulation is how much “feel” or lever stroke there is between applying the brakes and full application.

TRP brakes provide a little more power with slightly improved modulation compared to Shimano.

Riders looking for even great modulation should review Hope and Magura brakes.

The new Hope Tech 4 lineup increased their total power in-line with Shimano and Magura without compromising their amazing modulation.

Magura continues to be the most popular aftermarket brake, especially installed on new builds. We will credit you for any part swaps and with the variety of Magura price points most riders find the MT5 and MT7 brakes provide unbeatable value. Magura brakes offer great total power and top tier modulation without feeling soft. Magura offers a variety of brake levers to help riders fine tune their performance.

Chat with our team about which brake will work best for your riding style and preferences. We can help you find brakes in a wide range of price points to ensure you’re not settling on such a big piece of your bike’s personality.

Seatpost upgrades you might see include the FOX Transfer Performance, Bike Yoke, PNW or OneUp on the Deore buid.

MANY riders will update the seatpost lever. Upgrades from PNW and Wolf Tooth improve functionality and feel at a relatively minor cost.

GX Drivetrain Details

The Ripmo AF GX kit uses the SRAM Eagle 12sp system. This is a popular spec for riders looking for a drivetrain that won’t need a ton of micro adjustments to keep shifting. SRAM’s drivetrains are known to be reliable and extremely long lasting. Keep them relatively clean and well lubed and you’ll be amazed with the service life of the Eagle bits.

Two upgades we see to the GX build:

Upgraded alloy cranks. The NX cranks definitely get it done. But, there are some excellent aluminum crank options these days. Whether you’re looking for some additional bling, performance or both BikeCo has #thebestinMTB.

Another popular upgrade is the GX AXS derailleur and shifter. Wireless shifting with AXS is one of the more frequent upgrades we see on the SRAM GX builds.

GX Wheel and Tire Details

Ibis’ Blackbird Send wheels are a great spec on the Ripmo AF GX build. With a 35mm internal rim width a relatively high volume tire shape is achieved. This allows riders to take advantage or lower PSI for more traction.

Riders looking for that special build may shop King or i9 hubs in that ideal color to accent their build. Occasionally riders will upgrade to carbon wheels, but most wheel upgrades on the AF SLX build use alloy rims from WTB, RideFast or Factor.

GX Cockpit & Brakes Details

No matter which model or brand you’re shopping, to get the fit right you might be swapping or upgrading handlebar and stem! Some riders will prefer a 35mm diameter combo. Others will need a taller rise handlebar. Some prefer to upgrade to carbon options to improve damping and take some of the abuse our of their hands. BikeCo has you covered.

Is there a grip / bar / stem combo you like? No problem, we can get your bike spec perfect for you.

What are the most common cockpit upgrades to the Ripmo AF GX build?

Alloy handlebars from Renthal and Tag in 35mm diameter are great for taller rise bar options.

However, more often we see riders go to carbon 35mm handlebars. This improves the damping of through the aluminum AF bike. The most popular upgrades are to the OneUp or Tag carbon bars. Both feature design and layup considerations to maximize damping and reduce hand fatigue.

Having the right bar is important.

Probably the most common upgrade in MTB is getting brakes that compliment your riding style. Keep reading for more details on the importance of having a confident brake setup for your needs.

Popular Brake Swaps & Upgrades to the Ibis Ripmo AF GX

BikeCo provides the best brakes from Shimano, TRP, Hope and Magura.

The stock SRAM G2 brakes are a decent option for lighter riders. However, larger and more aggressive riders are likely to swap these with a similarly priced pair from Hope, Magura, Shimano or TRP.

MANY riders will update the seatpost lever. Upgrades from PNW and Wolf Tooth improve functionality and feel at a relatively minor cost.

Compare the Ibis Ripmo AF UDH Completes

The Ripmo AF UDH is a bike designed to parallel the carbon Ripmo’s trail personality.

Meaning? It’s a confident, comfortable bike in a wide range of terrain.

Ibis’ spec options provide riders a lot of value across the board. In fact, many experienced riders would enjoy a Ripmo AF UDH build with minor updates as a quiver bike as well. What updates might you consider on the Ripmo AF UDH? Let’s take a look at the similarities, key differences as well as common swaps and upgrades in the tabs below.

Ibis Ripmo: Carbon or Aluminum

One of the first questions we’re asked is to define the trail differences between the Ripmo and the Ripmo AF UDH.

You can scroll down to compare the geometry – overall they’re very close. The main difference is found between the aluminum and carbon fiber material.

Ibis makes a high quality aluminum bike. The Ripmo AF UDH  and Ripley AF UDH have trail proven mileage and are ready for anything you’ll want to throw at it. The differences riders can feel will be weight, a bit of damping and vibrancy.

Weight matters, but most riders won’t choose one or the other simply based on weight.

Carbon fiber provides additional damping. This is based on the weaved material, the layup as well as shapes to transfer load that carbon lends itself to. The aluminum bike will transfer a bit more of the trail frequency to the rider. However, with carbon bars such as the OneUp or Tag models offering designed damping Ripmo AF UDH riders can upgrade cockpit for improved damping.

Another material difference is found in how vibrant the frame will feel. Carbon bikes tend to have and maintain a bit more of a vibrant feel longer into their service life.

The only riders shopping aluminum that I ask to take a long look at the materials are, well riders like me! If you’re a heavier rider (I’m somewhere in the 260 range these days) the carbon fiber will stay vibrant notably longer. Heavier or really aggressive riders may find the aluminum will work harden, which ironically means it will get softer, and the bikes aren’t as crisp a couple seasons in.

Also, riders looking at a Ripmo AF with a 170mm fork might look at the carbon bike as well. The Carbon Ripmo can help with the modified geo as well as it is spec’d with the FOX Factory fork that is a popular 170mm option.

Ibis Ripmo AF Kit Differences

The aluminum Ripmo AF is available in 3 kits. 2 Shimano options and a SRAM GX.

Shimano Deore and SLX Kits

SLX components will be a bit lighter than the Deore kit. Overall the performance in Shimano stays crisp across lineup, however the SLX kit tends to have a slightly longer service life.

The SLX kit also features the upgraded Bike Yoke Revive dropper post.

SRAM GX Complete

The Ripmo AF is available in a SRAM GX kit as well. Overall the SRAM cable drivetrains will shift in a wider range or adjustment than the Shimano offerings. The other side of this coin is while Shimano shifts quite smooth the SRAM drivetrains have a bit more thump to them.

A popular option for the GX complete, as well as the SLX build for some riders, is an upgrade to the GX AXS derailleur and shifter. Read more about this on the upgrade tab.

Common Ibis Ripmo AF UDH Upgrades and Swaps

Ibis Ripmo AF Upgrades and Swaps

Ibis spec’s a great kit. But, there are some common upgrades and swaps to the Ripmo AF builds. Let’s take a look at where clients can find added performance without breaking the bank.

Frankly there really aren’t any “no-go” parts for the Deore, GX or SLX Ripmo AF bikes. But, when it comes to a precise fit or personality there are a range of components buyers should review. At BikeCo we take pride feting that perfect part in the right color to personalize the Ripmo AF’s performance, fit or look.

Common Ripmo AF Upgrades

These upgrades will help you get the right fit or modify the trail performance of your bike. Our sales staff takes a lot of pride getting riders dialed in: if you have questions don’t hesitate to call, email or use the web chat. Having a better understanding of your size, riding style, typical terrain and aspirations will allow us to fine to a spec within your budget!

Rider Contact Points

Since there are so many pedal options and preferences your Ripmo AF doesn’t have a stock pedal. BikeCo offers the best selection of clipless and flat pedals as well as offers incredible pricing when purchased with a complete bike.

Flat pedals are available in a range of sizes and concave. Depending on the size of your foot or preference you may find that a general shape works better.

Clipless pedals are available with more or less “float” or lateral movement before they disengage. Shimano clipless pedals have minimal float while pedals like Time offer more motion and rotation prior to disengagement.

If you know your preference let’s get you dialed in with your favorite. Should you have questions on which pedals are right for you work with our sales team to understand the advantages of each model we carry.

Grips are another area of personal preference. The stock Ripmo AF grips work well – but if you have something you prefer we’re happy to get it for you.

Tires

Like contact points many riders develop a “go-to” tire spec. Tires are one of the most common swaps on any bike. With notable performance differences between tread pattern, compound and sidewall lets make sure we get you on the perfect tire setup.

More aggressive riders tend to gravitate to robust sidewalls. The Maxxis Double Down technology is popular. Along with the additional resistance to cuts or abrasion Double Down tires also improve damping.

Lighter riders or those in riding in less aggressive terrain may prefer the faster and quicker accelerating EXO sidewalls.

Those looking for a faster rolling tire spec gravitate to a Minion DHF front and DHR II or even an Aggressor rear tire.

Looking for rim protection? We have that covered too. CushCore Pro and XC are popular. Some riders prefer to mix and match. Chat with our team about rim protection options and advantages for aggressive riding.

Cockpit

Bars and stems are a very common swap or upgrade to the Ibis Factory Spec. Often a 35mm diameter combination is preferred to the stock 31.8mm options.

Handlebar rise and overall stiffness also improve the personalization and performance of your bike. Looking for suggestions? We have the best in the market from OneUp, Tag, Renthal and Raceface.

Carbon bars are a very popular upgrade to the Ripmo AF. This gives the bike additional damping at the grips for a less fatiguing trail feel. Particularly the OneUp Carbon and Tag bars are popular for this purpose.

Chat with our team about hand positioning and the advantages of getting the right handlebar rise on your new rig.

Brakes

This is one of the most common swaps or upgrades on any bike. Brakes that compliment your riding style and preference make a huge difference on trail. We offer class leading options in a variety of price points from Hope, Magura, Shimano and TRP.

Shimano brakes are very popular and are spec’d on several of the build options. Shimano brakes have good overall power with quick lever throw. This produces a brake with a strong feel.

TRP brakes are similar to the Shimano lineup. The TRP brakes provide a touch more overall power and extra modulation compared to Shimano offerings.

Riders who prefer a bit more modulation or “feel” to their brakes gravitate towards Hope and Magura.

The latest Hope Tech 4 updates have improved their power. This puts the Hope Tech 4 in the Shimano and Magura range for overall power while retaining the excellent modulation Hope has been known for.

Magura brakes are the most frequent swap or upgrade across all Ibis builds. Riders who appreciate modulation and power will find Magura excellent in both aspects. Magura offers models with across a wide price range allowing budget friendly swaps or upgrades. Riders looking for the most adjustability or tuning for their brakes will shop the MT7 with HC3 levers.

Wireless Shifting

RIpmo AF builds like the GX and the SLX are popular options for the standard  GX AXS upgrade.

Chat with our team about mating the GX AXS with Shimano Drivetrains.

Ibis Ripmo AF UDH Geometry

The Ripmo AF UDH is available in four sizes. Small, Medium, Large and X-Large. The provided options for riders from 5′ to 6′ 5″.

Use the tabs below for more info on the Ripmo AF UDH Geo, compare sizes with the Geo Chart as well as see how the Ripmo AF UDH measures up against other Enduro MTB bikes on the Comparison tab.

Like other Ibis bikes the Ripmo AF UDH size is determined by rider height as well as leg and arm length. Riders in the height cross-over of sizes will determine the ideal size from inseam, flexibility and riding style.

Longer leg riders will tend to upsize to improve riding position. This increases the wheelbase but allows for a shorter cockpit. These create a bike with a bit more overall speed capacity. Being less cramped in the cockpit allows riders a more comfortable, confident fit. The larger bike isn’t quite as snappy as a smaller option would be.

Riders with longer torsos or looking for a more “poppy, playful” feel will might downsize. Although, with modern MTB frames designed to accommodate increased dropper post lengths riders who prefer the added wheelbase may upsize – so long as the reach doesn’t compromise stem size availability or put a rider “too far” over the front wheel.

If you have sizing questions on the Ripmo AF UDH work with our team. They will help you understand how your size, riding style, terrain and aspirations will effect your choice.

Stock Fork: Marzocchi Bomber Z1 Coil, 160mm

Ibis Ripmo AF Fork Travel Options

160mm Ibis Ripmo AF

The Ripmo AF is spec’d with a 160mm Marzocchi Bomber. This provides the bike with it’s stock 64.9 degree headtube angle and 341mm bottom bracket height.

Riders looking for a little more aggressive setup may investigate the 170mm option.

170mm Ibis Ripmo AF

Perhaps more than the additional 6% of travel the 10mm adds are the geometry modifications. Raising the front of the Ripmo AF will slacken the headtube, increase the trail measurement and slightly lift the bottom bracket.

These are popular shifts for riders attacking the steepest, burliest terrain.

Marzocchi Z1 Bomber Coil Medium Firm Extra Firm Coil Springs

Marzocchi Bomber Z1 Coil 160mm, 44mm offset, 29”, 110×15

The Marzocchi Z1 is a great option spec’d on the current Ibis Ripmo AF – this is a robust fork with the proven GRIP damper minimizing both issues and downtime. The coil spring and pre-load options give riders a range of adjustability based on weight and BikeCo.com has the right springs to get you setup whether you’re looking for the Medium (factory supplied), Firm or Extra Firm spring rate.

Marzocchi Z1 Spring Rate Chart with Rebound Settings

Coil Spring

For the 160mm travel Marzocchi Bomber Z1 Coil suggested sag is 15% for a firm feel and 20% for a plush fork. On the stock 160mm setup 15% equals 24mm or about 1 inch of sag. 20% will use 32mm or about 1.3″ of sag. Sag and progression can be adjusted with Preload.

BikeCo provides out clients the correct spring based on weight. (Ibis ships with a Medium spring)

Stock Rear Shock: Marzocchi Bomber Air

Marzocchi Bomber Air Shock

Air Spring & Volume Spacers

The Ibis Ripmo AF uses a 210 x 55mm shock.

The spec’d Marzocchi Bomber Air Shock is the most popular based on its wide variety of setup options.

SAG is adjusted by PSI – typically Enduro riding styles gravitate to 25-30% sag. This would measure about 17mm for a plush setup.

Volume Spacers

Volume spacing provides fine tuning options to support the air spring.

By adding volume spacers, thus reducing the volume, you increase the air spring’s ramp rate for improved bottom out support and pop.

Conversely removing volume spacers produces a more linear feel as the air has more volume during shock compression per mm of travel.

Do not install more volume spacers than the Marzocchi advises. Installing more than the maximum volume spacers will result in  product damage and potential for injuries, etc.

More about Marzocchi Bomber Air Shock Volume Spacing can be found here (link opens in new tab)

Marzocchi Bomber Air Shock Rebound Adjustment

Marzocchi Bomber Air Shock Rebound Controls

The Marzocchi Bomber Air shock offers 10 clicks of rebound adjustment.

This allows riders to control the rate of return from a compressed state. Ideally, rebound is set fast enough that the fork returns to a neutral position before the next obstacle, without being so fast as to lose traction or feel like a pogo stick!

Marzocchi Bomber Air Shock 2 position compression Adjustment

Marzocchi Bomber Air Shock Compression Controls

From Marzocchi’s Site the Bomber’s Compression control offers unique features:

2-position, non-indexed compression sweep adjust means you can set it and forget it

Innovative tunable sweep to adjust the stop to a narrower window

Ibis Ripmo AF: Air vs. Coil

Debating air versus coil on your new Ibis Ripmo AF?  Let’s look at the differences in the spring concepts.

Coil Ripmo AF

Generally coil shocks are sought after for being more plush on the initial stroke and more linear through the travel. “Linear” means less progressive, or less able to resist bottom out. Now, some of this can be tuned with compression settings on the damper, however, it will never have the same progressive feel as an air shock.

Getting the right coil for you usage is critical for the best performance. Typically riders will purchase two of the less expensive coil springs and decide if they prefer the softer spring with more preload spun into the spring or if the “heavier” spring with less preload is their preference. There is actual a difference in progressiveness with these two approaches while maintaining a cross over sag spring rate. In short, if you’re looking at coils and not 100% sure what you need chat with our team – and save on that titanium ultra light spring while you fine tune with the cheaper steel options!

Air Ripmo AF

Air shocks are mechanically more progressive in nature thanks to the properties of compressing air. Riders who want less ramp rate, or less progressive suspension can remove volume spacers thus increasing the air volume. Adding volume spacers diminishes the volume available to compress which leads to the PSI increasing at each mm of travel – increasing the ramp rate or progression of the suspension.

Most riders will gravitate to the air spring option for the range of adjustability.

Spec Swaps Performance or Preference: Ibis Ripmo AF Deore Build

Ibis ripmo af performance or preferance

We’re going to take a quick look at the Ibis Ripmo AF Deore build spec. What stands out? What bits are commonly swapped? What would we swap out if we were building it ourselves? Let’s jump right in.

Ibis Ripmo AF Deore Build

Aluminum frame 29” Enduro bike, that has enough playfulness in its personality to be fun on trail days even without the big enduro terrain or speed.

147mm of rear travel with a 160mm fork.

The Deore build is the entry level complete which puts you in a top tier brand, with top tier suspension design for under $4k ($3899 MSRP).

Spec Swaps: Performance or Preference?

Let’s go through the spec part by part. We’ll highlight some of the real gems and suggest some areas where riders might commonly look to swap a part or two.

OK, so  we’re going to keep it reasonable in the budget (like I’m not going to saw I’m swapping all the bits into a 12k bike – that’s unreasonable). But let’s figure I have a little bit of budget to dial in my bike and I can swap some of the parts back at time of purchase (we do it all the time here at BikeCo)

DW Suspension. Confident in a white range of terrain. DW bikes pedal great, and the latest version is efficient deep into the travel making it a fun bike for tricky climbs that need both power and travel. Most notable on the Ibis DW bikes is the tremendous traction and ability to “monster truck” if you get into terrain a bit above your paygrade so to speak.

Wheels: Seldom swapped on this build
Ibis S35 Aluminum with Ibis Hubs. Ibis makes a nice wheel. The 35mm internal width provides a lot of volume for 2.4 to 2.6” tires. This additional volume helps generate a bit more damping through the tire sidewall which translates into additional grip. Riders may look at upgraded wheels if it’s a special build and they prefer another brand or color such as the Industry Nine lineup or if they are more comfortable on slightly narrower rims like the 29mm and 30mm options.

Tires: If swapped it’s typically a preference for a faster rolling rear Maxxis tire.
Assegai EXO+ 2.5 front and rear. Aggressive tires for aggressive riding! One of the most common areas that we swap as tire personality is very important to how your bike feels on trail. Most often a DHR II goes in the rear and pairs well with the Assegai. Some riders prefer DHF DHR II and we can make that swap for you as well.

Brakes: If swapped its a preference, and if riders don’t prefer Shimano they almost 100% go to Magura MT5 on this bike.
Deore M6120 4 piston. Shimano and Magura brakes are the two most popular on our builds. Shimano riders prefer the additional snap as the power comes on. The Deore M6120 come from a long line of Shimano brakes that work and do all the things Shimano brakes do! A common swap for the Deore 4 piston brakes is to go to the Magura MT5. This is done for brake feel preference as they have similar total power, consistency and reliability.

Brake Rotors: Seldom changed on this build.
SM-RT66. Believe it or not this is the preferred Shimano rotor at BikeCo. Less exotic than the Ice Tech in material and manufacturing it tends to be more robust and slower wearing.

Cranks: Seldom changed on this build.
Deore M6100. The high school economics teacher might not believe it, but trickle down is real in MTB components. Even entry level cranks are getting lighter, better looking and stiffer.

Drivetrain: Seldom changed on this build.
Deore M6100 12sp Shimano with 51t cassette. Shimano’s drivetrains are the smoothest on the market. They shift gears nearly effortlessly with a very sophisticated feel even in the Deore lineup. To keep your Shimano drivetrain performing at its best its important to regularly wipe the dirt and debris from the chain, pulley wheels, chain ring and cassette and keep it properly lubed.

Headset: Seldom changed on this build.
Cane Creek 40. The 40 is a classic on bikes from Deore all the way to X01 builds. Robust and easy to maintain a properly installed Cane Creek 40 will give you crisp, quiet performance for a long time.

Handlebar and Stem: Performance change. Many riders upgrade to 35mm diameter carbon bars with an appropriate stem at time of purchase.
Ibis Alloy. For an aluminum bar Ibis’ decision to stay 31.8mm helped to minimize some of the trail input going straight into your hands. It’s a well designed, good functioning setup. But, it’s one of the most often upgraded aspects of the Ripmo AF Deore build. Why? Carbon handlebars will give even more damping improving your trail feel and grip while minimizing arm pump or hand stress.

Grips: Preference swap if swapped
Lizard Skin Charger. Grips are really personal. The Chargers are a good starting point if you’re new to the sport – you’re not going to hate them. If you already know what you like though this is another common place for swaps.

Seatpost:  Seldom changed on this build.
KS Rage-I Again, the trickle down means even the “basic” seatposts these days work well. With L and XL spec’d with 170mm travel seatposts and M with 150mm the Ripmo AF Deore accommodates riders of different body types.

Saddle: Preference swap if changed, but one of THE BEST stock saddle options on the market.
WTB Silverado 142. Like grips, saddle choice is really personal. The WTB Silverado is probably one of the most widely fitting saddles on the market. Ibis hasn’t picked a strange saddle to save a buck or two at the cost of you never wanting to really ride it… With the Silverado riders have a proper size and shape MTB saddle for the type of riding the Ripmo AF is designed for.
